TDSAT stays 4 per cent cable rate hike

MUMBAI: Tribunal Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has stayed the four per cent hike introduced by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on cable rates.

Justice Santosh Hegde today asked the regulator to clarify on the basis of a four per cent hike in cable TV rates which will be effective from 1 January 2006.

Tdsat was responding to a petition filed by the Pune-based consumer forum Grahak Hitvardhini Sarvajanik Sanstha. The forum, in its petition, questioned the mechanism on which Trai arrived at a four per cent hike.
