MUMBAI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) issued directives to three distribution platform operators (DPOs) to comply with all provisions of its new tariff order. The regulator issued the notice to the DPOs after finding several violations.

Based on an inspection of Bhatinda-based multi system operator MC Transmission, the authority found partial functionality of the website, non-availability of customer care centre and toll-free number and non-functionality of customer care channel in violation of the provisions of the QoS Regulations, 2017 notified by the Authority. The authority observed the same problems with two other Punjab-based MSOs Citi Cable Net and Chetak Cable Network.

Hence, TRAI has directed the MSO to adhere to the provisions of the quality of service regulations as well as report compliance as per the new regulatory framework within five days. Earlier TRAI sent notices to major DTH platforms and MSOs for flouting rules of the new tariff order.

Moreover, according to a recent PTI report, TRAI has warned that all cable TV and DTH players found to be flouting its new tariff order will be taken to task. Moreover, the regulator will also undertake an audit of the subscriber management and IT systems of operators that don’t abide by its rules.
