MUMBAI: This October, get ready to witness the best of Bollywood films with your favourite Superstars as they make way to your homes with Zee Cinema. Along with the airing of the two week special blockbuster hits of Akshay Kumar with Mast Mast Akshay, Zee Cinema?s longest running property ?Shanivaar Ki Raat Amitabh Ke Saath? is proud to present twelve of the very best of Amitabh Bachchan?s movies on ?The Best of Shanivaar Ki Raat Amitabh Ke Saath?, every Saturday at 8 PM from 16 October onwards. The first film in this series is Shaan, followed by Deewar and Naseeb on 23 & 30 October respectively.
And, this Dusshera (17 October 2010) at 12 noon, Zee Cinema will air one of the greatest Indian movie hits of all time ? Sholay. It is the first satellite telecast of the complete family entertainer movie after two years. Released 35 years ago in 1975, the movie seems like it was set in another age. Many Gen Next viewers will now get the opportunity to enjoy the iconic set of characters who became incredibly famous like Gabbar (Amjad Khan), Thakur (Sanjeev Kumar), Jai (Amitabh Bachchan), Veeru (Dharmendra), Basanti (Hema Malini), and the under-played role of Radha (played by Jaya Bachchan). Sholay was based on a small idea by the prolific writer duo of Salim-Javed and went on to break all records and is known as a cult film even today.
Jai, Veeru, Gabbar and the rest of the gang will take viewers on an entertaining, fun-filled adventure with the movie that became the first film in the history of Indian cinema to celebrate a silver-jubilee initial release at over 100 theatres across the country! Sholay is the story of Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra), two small time crooks called in by Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar) to fight the tyranny of Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan). Basanti (Hema Malini) and Radha, a distraught widow (Jaya Bhaduri) play Jai?s and Veeru?s love interest respectively and partner them through their attempt to free the village from Gabbar and his minions. Sholay will also air on Zee TV at 7 30 PM. This is the first time that viewers can watch Sholay on Zee Cinema & Zee TV on the same day. This is what we call Ek Din Mein Double Mazaa!!!
