MUMBAI: Continuing with bringing exclusive news to the viewers, NewsX tonight will telecast an interview with Mr Somnath Chatterjee, former Lok Sabha Speaker. Catch the show as the former Lok Sabha Speaker shares his insights on how formation of the Third Front for the Lok Sabha polls costs the CPI (M) dearly. In an exclusive interview, the veteran also speaks about Mamata Banerjee?s possibility on becoming the next Chief Minister of West Bengal.

Somnath Chatterjee, who joined the Communist party of India (Marxist) in 1968 and was a Member of Parliament from 1971 till 2009, fell out with the CPM leadership last year over the withdrawal of support from the UPA government.

Some excerpts from the interview:

On his take on Mamta Banerjee, says the former Lok Sabha speaker: "You can‘t build up anything on desert, suppose West Bengal industry is going away from West Bengal, who will you rule. Supposing she comes to power, I take it she will come to power, then she doesn‘t want a desert I am sure. She can come to power because the people will support her."

Chatterjee, who was expelled from the party, holds the present leadership responsible for the party‘s poor showing in the polls, ?Somebody has to explain why the erosion of support has taken place. I feel the present leadership has lost mass contact."

To know more, catch the full interview tonight at 8.30 pm exclusively on NewsX.
