MUMBAI :TRAI had sought comments of the stakeholders on the Draft Orders on tariff for commercial subscribers for Broadcasting and Cable Television Services for CAS notified areas and non-CAS areas by placing these on its website on 2nd November, 2006.

The last date for receipt of comments was 10th November, 2006.

2.Comments of 10 stakeholders were received.

These stakeholders were 5 broadcasters/ distributors, 3 MSOs and 3 hotel industry organizations.

The hotel industry has argued that they should be treated as ordinary cable subscriber and in case they are not so treated, then specific tariff should be fixed for them instead of leaving tariff to market forces.

The broadcasters have stated that there should be no price regulation.

MSOs have stated that hotels should not directly enter into the interconnection agreements with broadcasters.
