3G auction: 100 per cent activity requirement declared

NEW DELHI: Even after touching 100 per cent in the activity requirement, the bidding for the 3G auction refused to stop. After completion of 132 rounds on the 23rd day, the pan-India price has reached Rs 113.27 billion.

There were applications for price increment for the 133rd round tomorrow ranging up to Rs 400 million for some centres.

The bid for Mumbai was Rs 19.87 billion, while that of Delhi was Rs 19.20 billion.

With no applications for price increment for tomorrow, the bids for some service centres are expected to slow down. These include Haryana, East Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and the North East.

The telecom operators in the race are Aircel, Bharti Airtel, Etisalat DB Telecom, Idea Cellular, Reliance, S Tel, Tata Teleservices, Videocon Telecommunications and Vodafone Essar.

The successful bidders would be allowed to start commercial 3G operations from 1 September.
