Zee launches 4 channels on Australian IPTV platform

MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) has launched four channels from its bouquet - Zee TV APAC, Zee Cinema, Zing and Zee Salaam on Australian IPTV platform Fetch TV.

All four channels will be a part of World TV package on Fetch TV. The World TV package has two sub-packages namely, ‘South Asian‘ and ‘Mandarin‘.

Fetch TV, the Australian founded-and-owned business, with backing from the Malaysian based Astro All Asia Networks subscription TV group, is a wholesale subscription TV provider to all the leading Australian ISPs.

Zeel CEO international business Bharat Ranga said, "There is a high broadband penetration of 6.1 million households in Australia and the internet-based media consumption on digital platforms, and it has been rapidly growing. Hence, we are definitely in a favourable situation to take advantage of the current dynamics in the market."

Zeel business head for the APAC region Tarun Mehra said, "Fetch TV gives us another platform to reach our viewers. Zee reaches out to 4.8 million viewers currently, in APAC alone. I am positive that Fetch TV will contribute in raising the benchmark that we have created for ourselves. We look forward to a long-term association with them."

Zee is already present in Australia since June 2004. It is present on DTH platforms such as Vision Asia and KonnecTV. Getting launched on an IPTV platform will benefit the Zee channels in further increasing the penetration in the market.

South Asian Media Expert Saba Zaidi Abdi, who has worked with Fetch TV on the creation of the Fetch TV packages said, "While packaging the two bouquets, we have selected only the premium channels and best quality content available from South Asia. Because Fetch TV is delivered over broadband, a satellite dish is not required to receive the packages. This means that the new service can be accessed by a larger proportion of the South Asian community that can receive existing subscription TV options."

The Fetch TV provides access to digital free-to-air channels, subscription channels, video on-demand and interactive content via an unmetered broadband connection.
