MUMBAI: Discovery Channel is all geared up to air a historic film unravelling South Africa's wildest tale of violence and corruption. The 2 hour special movie titled as Lions of Sabi Sand: Brothers In Blood will be aired on 31 December at 8 pm.
The film revolves around the story of five brothers from the Sparta pride, which has been filmed continuously by professionals and amateurs alike for 16 years. The Sparta pride of lions has lived at the heart of Sabi Sands for generations. The story tells the incredible journey of Africa's most notorious pride, a deadly group of six male lions.
The story is one of a shocking violence, deception and thirst for power, revealing a surprising and sophisticated side to the power and politics of real lion behaviour. The rangers and biologists were astounded by the pride’s relentless hunger for domination, as they showed no fear in massacring other lions and their cubs in order to expand their territory. In just one year, the six lions known as the Mapogos killed over a hundred lions, and conquered an incredible amount of land led by the fearsome Makhulu. The pride formed an inseparable bond, which saw them unleash a devastating reign of terror, taking control of a vast territory.
Later after Makhulu's brothers embarked on a relentless quest for the throne, his vicious betrayal got sealed. The story then sees a newcomer appearing in the midst, changing the lives of the squad by making it a killing hit squad of six.
