Softbank, Yahoo Japan launch video content service

MUMBAI: Softbank and Yahoo! Japan announced that TV Bank, a video content service joint venture established by the two companies, has begun providing a video content service at Yahoo! Video.

The video content portal features about 100,000 video titles, most of which are provided for free.

The Softbank group will bring in both Softbank and Yahoo Japan's staff involved in video content business as well as their service know-how to TV Bank in order to bolster the group's video content service capabilities, states an official release.

Plans call for building a world-class video search index as well as adding a function to allow users to submit their own video productions to the site. TV Bank will initially accept video productions by post and release the video submission function in spring 2006, the release adds.
