MUMBAI: While English movie channels HBO and Star Movies are done with their quota of Oscar movies line-up, Zee MGM's ode to the Oscars comes in a trifle late.
With the most awaited awards function of the Hollywood industry just accomplished and the media still churning out 'on-the-event' specials, Zee's international movie channel's bid seems to cash in on the flavour of the month.
The movie channel has branded March as Oscar month with its announcement of airing Oscar nominated and winner movies every weekend.
Starting 5 March, the film festival has a list of movies lined up that will premiere every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 pm, till 28 March. Branded Ode to the Oscars, each weekend will air movies belonging to a particular theme. The weekend films are divided accordingly into Performance, Mafia / Crime Files, Epics and Europe / Foreign Cinema genres.
While the first week's theme is Performance, the movies highlighted under this category are Philadelphia, My Left Foot and Silence of the Lambs. The next week's theme is Mafia / Crime Files with line up including Donnie Brasco, Bugsy and Chicago.
The third, the Epics weekend will showcase Catch The Last Of The Mohicans, Robinhood: Prince Of Thieves and Gangs Of New York. While the last weekend, 26 March-28 March, will have Europe / Foreign Cinema Oscar classics, Iris, Life Is Beautiful and Amelie.
