Bangalore round of ‘Good Earth Super Series’ starts

BANGALORE: Round four of the Good Earth Super Series, national junior tennis tournament kicked off in Bangalore, after an action packed week in New Delhi. As reported earlier, the tournament started with the Chennai round followed by the Hyderabad round. The next stop is Mumbai from 24 December, before the grand finale in January 2008.

A total of 128 players (32 in each category - Under 14 and Under 16 for boys and girls) from all over the country, have qualified for the main draw event from 19 - 20 November, which culminates in the finals on 23 November at the same venue.

As in the other cities previously, media partner Jetix, will be conducting a school program revolving around the spirit of Jetix and tennis as a sport. A school poster campaign in 100 schools followed by the Jetix Hardest hitter contest in 50 schools started in the first week of November across schools in Bangalore. The culmination of the activity at the ‘Good Earth Fungama’ on 24 November promises children a unique and fun filled event full of contests, tennis activities, prizes and other attractions according to an official release.

The Good Earth Super Series has been designed and created by Havas Sports along with title sponsor Avesta Good Earth Foods to take to the players’ messages revolving around the need for health and fitness, the need for staying healthy to be increasingly competitive and the right way to go after life long tennis dreams that every player nurtures.

Besides Good Earth, the other sponsors are Garden City College and Sobha Developers.
