Cartoon Network partners with Sri Lanka's Art Television

MUMBAI: Expanding its footprint in South Asia, Turner International has launched a dedicated one-hour programming block of its leading kids’ channel Cartoon Network on Atr Television, Sri Lanka’s terrestrial English channel.

From 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm everyday, kids in Sri Lanka can now enjoy the opportunity to experience Cartoon Network’s cartoons, which include Dexter’s Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo, Ed, Ed N Eddy and Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Turner International India Private Limited (TIIPL) VP, deputy GM– distribution and business operations South Asia Siddharth Jain said, “Sri Lanka is an extremely important market for Turner International. Our relationship with Art Television dates back over a decade. With the launch of this block we now provide news and entertainment to our consumers in Sri Lanka by leveraging the reach of Art Television."

Art Television CEO Annika Senanayake said, “This is an important addition to our existing lineup and will offer our viewers an even more compelling and well rounded mix of programming. It consolidates Art Television’s commitment to providing every viewer group with quality entertainment.”

As a treat to its viewers, the programming block on weekends will showcase globally popular Cartoon Network icons such as Ben 10, the alien-morphing boy hero, amongst others. The special Cartoon Network programming block will be promoted by a hi-decibel marketing campaign that will cover both above-the-line and below-the-line activities.

Art Television claims to be the only Channel in Sri Lanka to operate 24 hours and currently showcases 15 hours of CNN daily. Its partnership with Turner International dates back to 1995 when the channel was one of the first in the South East Asian region to introduce CNN on terrestrial television.
