Nickelodeon acquires ‘The Elephant Princess’

MUMBAI: Kids entertainment channel Nickelodeon has acquired tween live action series, The Elephant Princess, from ZDF Enterprises.

The series, produced by Jonathan M Shiff Productions, will air on Nickelodeon across Europe, including the UK, Africa and Latin America.

The network has also acquired the rights to the series‘ all-media roll-out. As part of the deal, Nickelodeon has secured rights to the series‘ online content for the channel‘s websites and will roll out content in coordination with the on-air launch. The Elephant Princess will first premiere on Nickelodeon in the UK in Spring 2009.

Said Nickelodeon SVP global acquisitions and international programming Jules Borkent, "The unique tale of The Elephant Princess, told from a teen‘s point of view, will greatly appeal to Nick‘s core teen viewers.”

ZDF Enterprises VP - sales, merchandising and coproductions added, "We are delighted to build on the success story of H2O - Just Add Water, our first production acquired by the network, and to further fortify our close and fruitful partnership with Nickelodeon."

The Elephant Princess is a 26 x 30-minute series starring Emily Robins as Alex Wilson, an apparently ordinary teenage girl who discovers that she has magical powers and is the heir to the throne of the enchanted kingdom of Manjipoor.
