NEW YORK: Bloomberg Television has been nominated for an Emmy Award in the First Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards For Business and Financial Reporting.
An official release informs that the first annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards For Business and Financial Reporting recognises achievements in business and financial reporting by programs broadcast from 1 July 2002 to 30 June 2003. The awards will be presented on 4 December at the Union Club in New York City.
Bloomberg's nominated series is Showdown on Secrecy, which explored conflicts around disclosure issues in the mutual-funds industry. Bloomberg claims to be dominating the crucial morning hours among business news television networks in the US. The broadcaster recently announced that it was now the number one business television network in the US from 5-8 am, with its average audience up 31 per cent in the last year, quoting Nielsen ratings.
Bloomberg has more than 1,600 reporters and editors in 94 news bureaus around the world, including London, New York, Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore and Hong Kong. Bloomberg also claims to have access to cameras in over 200 banks and financial institutions worldwide, giving its viewers direct access to market-shaping events as they happen. It broadcasts 10 networks in seven languages and claims to reach over 200 million homes worldwide.
