ESPN special projects head Guha to join Channel 7 as deputy editor

MUMBAI: Channel 7, promoted by media group Jagran Prakashan, has roped in Shantanu Guha Ray from ESPN India to head its business and sports desk. He is joining Channel 7 next month as deputy editor.

A print medium journalist-turned-TV man, Ray has already put in his papers at ESPN India where he was heading the special projects division.

Ray joined as head of India news for ESPN Star Sports three years ago and set up a complete network of reporters across the country, apart from covering the ICC World Cup cricket in South Africa, India's tour of Australia and handling India's much-publicised tour of Pakistan.

After two years, he was made head of special projects and handled all the three domestic cricket tours of Australia, South Africa and Pakistan. Presently, he was involved in handling the Indianisation of total non-stop wrestling, which is slowly catching up on the sports channels.

Channel 7 is on the hunt for a news director which has fallen vacant after Arup Ghosh quit the organisation early this year.
