MUMBAI: Zee News, the country's first Hindi news channel, claims it has seen a rise in viewership in the four metros riding a slew of new programmes and some exclusive interviews.

Quoting TAM figures, Zee News, in an official statement, has said it has been at par with the subse tez news channel Aaj Tak with a channel share of 20.4 per cent in the C&S 4+ segment for the week ended 25 June.

Star News, NDTV India and DD News follow with shares of 18.5 per cent,14.8 per cent and 13 per cent, respectively, the Zee News statement avers.

In the Hindi speaking market (HSM), Zee News, according to the release, has maintained the No.2 position with 19.3 per cent channel share between week 23 and 26.

Leading the pack in the HSM, of course, is Aaj Tak with a channel share of 24.6 per cent. NDTV India occupies the No. 3 slot with a share of 17.5 per cent and Star News follows with 15.8 per cent share, asserts Zee news.

Zee News attributes its success to the fact that it caters to the audiences' needs through various programmes.
