CHENNAI:The Tamil- dubbed version of Asoka , the epic directed by Santosh Sivan starring super star Sharukh Khan, Ajith, and Kareena Kapoor, will premiere on Vijay TV on 3 November at 5:00 pm. The movie depicts the life of emperor Asoka and his many ordeals.
As part of the Diwali celebrations channel has lined up a series of star studded musical and dance based shows for the day.
The diwali bonanza unfurls at 8 am with Pattu Manram, a qawali style competition between the teams of popular playback singers Srinivas and Anuradha Sriram who will render popular film hits from Tamil cinema. Thalaimurai , at 8:30 am will feature popular singers like SPB Charan (son of SP Balasubramanian), Vijay Jesudas (son of KJ Jesudas), Yugendran (son of Malaysia Vasudevan) and Venkat Prabhu (son of Gangai Amaran).
Sangamam, as the name suggests will be a show depicting the fusion of classical, popular, film, folk and gaana (rap) forms of music. It will feature noted singers like TM Krishna or Sowmya (noted classical singers), Shalini (pop artist), Gopal Rao (film music composer), Pushpavanam Kuppuswamy (folk singer) and Karunas ( playback singer) . The programme airs at 9:00 am .
The dance based programmes will begin at 9:30 with Ilamai Idho Idho ,a showfeaturing young stars from the movie Five Star competing against the stars from the popular, hit Thulluvadho Illamai .
This will then be followed by Crazy Comedy by Crazy Mohan at 10:00 followed soon after by Simran!Simran!Simran, a show where popular actress Simran dances to a medley of popular film songs.
After having catered to dance and music lovers the attention shifts to drama buffs with Neenga Readyah, a comical telefilm by renowned scriptwriter and director Mowli at 11:00 am followed by Kadhal Enbadhu Edhuvarai, directed by renowned film actor, theater and television personality Y.G Mahendran.
Mettukal Pudhusu, at 1:00 pm will showcase all the latest musical hits from films marked for Diwali release.
The channel will also show curtain raisers of Ilaya Thalapathi, Priyadarshan's Lesa-Lesa, Three Roses and Solla Marandha Kadhai by Cheran.
The other programmes for the day include an interview with Chimbu, the Kaadhal Ayivadhillai star which will be aired at 3:00 pm.
Konjam Galatta! Konjam Kondattam! A song and dance extravaganza will be the grand finale to the day's celebrations . The two hour show featuring Rambha, Anuradha Sriram, Sangeetha, Srinivas, Silambarasan and Kannathil Muthamittal fame Keerthana will begin at 6: 30 pm.
