MUMBAI: - With viewership ratings between itself and competition increasing exponentially each month, TIMES NOW India‘s number 1 English news channel has further sharpened its position as the undisputed leader. The channel continues to consolidate its lead over competitors by mammoth proportions.

As per TAM ratings CS M 25+ AB, 1 mn+ markets (week 18), TIMES NOW leads with 37% market share which is equal to the shares of NDTV 24X7 and CNN IBN combined i.e. 15% and 22% respectively.

The English news genre which used to be a closely competed and cluttered one between 2006 and 2007 has slowly and steadily since 2008 turned in favour of TIMES NOW, with the channel cementing its position as the absolute number 1 and sharply widening the gap between itself and its now distant competitors (NDTV 24X7 & CNN IBN). TIMES NOW which led the English news genre for 49 weeks in 2009, continues to maintain its number 1 position, leading for 17 weeks out of 18 in 2010

TIMES NOW consolidated its position as the viewers preferred choice across all time bands including the significant and most critical prime time slot (8pm - 11pm), where it radically leads the genre with a mammoth 40% market share leaving NDTV 24X7 and CNN IBN lurching at 19% and 21% respectively. In fact, TIMES NOW enjoys the biggest lead in the news genre, not just in English, but also in Hindi (and in other regional language channels), where the gap between # 1 and 2 or 3 is not so significant.
