MUMBAI: Radio One?s hunt for India?s most fervent music aficionados reached its grand finale at the 94.3 Radio One Mumbai studios, with finalists from Bangalore, Kolkatta, Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad and Mumbai contending for the coveted title of the ?Music Ka Shahenshahh.

The winner, Mr.Abhishek Dey from Kolkatta was crowned the Music Ka Shahenshah by none other than Adnan Sami an accomplished Music Composer and a singer. He took home the grand prize of Rs 2 lakh.

?Over the years 94.3 Radio One has been one station known to formulate and execute properties which are unique and with music being the core product offering, Music Ka Shahenshah is an extension of what our product truly stands for. The contests saw fierce competition as they fought it out in the ultimate battle of maximum music knowledge. My congratulations to our First Music Ka Shahenshah, Mr.Abhishek Dey and the rest of the semi finalists,? said Vineet Singh Hukmani, Managing Director, Radio One.

?It?s an amazing feeling being crowned the first Music Ka Shahenshah, and I wasn?t really expecting to come this far. I faced tough competition in almost all the rounds as the other participants from the other cities were equally good. I?m lucky to have won Rs 2 lakhs and had a great time being a part of Radio One?s unique contest? said Grand Prize winner, Mr. Mr.Abhishek Dey.

?We are elated at the response Music Ka Shahenshah has generated nationally in the first year of its inception. With our focus being music, we believe that our properties should reverberate with our proposition of Maximum Music Fataafat. The contest questions asked by the MJs (Music Jockeys) ranged from being straightforward to outstandingly difficult and we are sure that we have a winner who is a true blue music lover? said Shyju Varkey, National Marketing Head, Radio One.

Said Adnan Sami, the judge for the finals, ?It was a very electrifying experience for me and I?m completely bowled over with the way the participants handled the hard-hitting questions, answers to some even I found hard to recollect. It?s very rare that any quiz on radio really goes as far as testing a person?s knowledge on music and I am very happy to do the honours as the judge on a show with a unique format as Music Ka Shahenshah?.

The property deemed to be the first of its kind music quiz in India spanned over 7 weeks in all the 6 cities and was supported by a high decibel marketing campaign across mediums like print, web, sms blast, on ground activations and heavy radio promotions.

A series of preliminary rounds were held in each of the cities followed by the Grand Finale in Mumbai.
