• Prime Focus set to commence operations in China

    MUMBAI, India - June 20, 2013 - Prime Focus Limited ("Prime Focus", BSE code: 532748), the world leader in media and entertainment industry services, announced today that the company will open a new office in Beijing, China. The announcement was made at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

    Set to open later this year (expected Q3), the move into China comes on the heels of the recent joint venture between Prime Focus Limited, AID Partners Capital and Zhejiang Jingqi Wenhua Chuanbo Company Limited. AID Partners Capital is a Hong Kong-based private equity firm focused on expansion capital and buyout opportunities primarily in the media and entertainment sector. In March this year AID Partners Capital had made an equity investment of US$10 million (Rs. 550 mil) in the creative services business, Prime Focus World NV (PFW), a 96% subsidiary of Prime Focus Limited.

    In addition to Beijing, Prime Focus maintains offices in Los Angeles, Vancouver, New York, London and Mumbai.

    According to the Chinese State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, China?s 2012 box office receipts increased 30%; in majority part due to imported films; ranking China as the world?s second-largest box office next to the US (surpassing Japan). People?s Republic of China (PRC) is also the largest 3D market outside of the United States, encouraging the government to relax import restrictions that now allow an additional 14 foreign films to be distributed in China provided they are in 3D or large format.

    Prime Focus has seen a lot of activity in the last few quarters. In late 2012 Prime Focus became one of the few companies which was able to repay FCCBs (worth US$ 79 mil/Rs. 4345 mil) as per the original terms of issuance. In November 2012, Standard Chartered PE had invested US$ 70 million (Rs. 3850 mil) in Prime Focus Limited - US$35 million equity for a 19.71% stake and US$35 million through NCDs, which helped Prime Focus honour its FCCB commitment on time.

  • MTDC to start its 10-city road-show campaign from Hyderabad

    Mumbai, June 19, 2013: In a most aggressive marketing plan, to the date, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has kick started its mission to cover 10 prominent cities of India to promote tourist destinations of Maharashtra.

    Starting with its first marketing campaign from Hyderabad on Saturday, Maharashtra Tourism is all set to attract the tourists from Andhra Pradesh by setting up a facility in Hyderabad to assist tourists and tour operators in Andhra Pradesh, at Tourism Bhavan, Begumpet in Hyderabad.

    Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, Honorable Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, said, "Andhra Pradesh is one of the most developed States of India with a large class of educated and affluent society. Maharashtra has rich tourist destinations to satiate the needs of tourists from Andhra Pradesh. From exotic beaches to historic forts, delicious cuisine to culture and heritage, there is a lot to explore in Maharashtra." The Corporation is also ready with a Television Commercial (TVC) which will launched soon on the national televisions.

    Maharashtra is always known for its rich culture, art and festivals. The State is blessed with the world famous World Heritage Sites like the caves of Ajanta-Ellora, 700km long coastline, pilgrimages like Shirdi-Saibaba, Entertainment Capital - Mumbai, Buddhist Pagoda at Gorai (Mumbai), hill stations like Mahabaleshwar-Panchgani and Matheran, wildlife sanctuaries of Tadoba-Pench and India?s wine capital-Nashik.

    This will be the second office of MTDC outside Maharashtra with the first being in Delhi. Dr. Jagdish Patil, Managing Director, MTDC, said, "MTDC has been taking several progressive steps to encourage tourism in Maharashtra. Along with this new facility, we are also hosting a road-show for the tour operators to promote Maharashtra as a preferred tourist destination. It will be an interactive session with the tour operators about how best we can improve the number of tourists visiting from Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra." Apart from Hyderabad, MTDC is planning to unveil their tourist offices in Lucknow and Tirupati in the near future.

    The information pertaining to all destinations and tourist information will be available at the new office of MTDC at Tourism Plaza, Begumpet, Hyderabad. This office will become one point source of information for the tourist enthusiasts from Andhra Pradesh and tour operators.

    Maharashtra has highest Foreign Tourist Arrivals and the Maharashtra Tourism is now focusing on domestic tourists too. Out of the 6.29 million foreign tourist arrivals in India in 2011, Maharashtra received the highest number with nearly 4.8 million tourists.

  • Sharmila Nicollet pulls out of the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open

    New Delhi, June 19, 2013: Hero Motocorp sponsored Indian golfer Sharmila Nicollet was forced to withdraw from Allianz Ladies Slovak Open 2013 due to a foot injury. She has been playing with injuries on her toes which have aggravated over a period of time. Sharmila is undergoing treatment currently and has been advised rest. She is awaiting confirmation from the doctor regarding the duration of rest, and when she can resume competitive golf.

    The tournament will be held between June 20 and June 23, 2013 at the Golf Resort Tale Brezno, T?le, Slovakia.

    Sharmila has had a promising start to her season on the LET this year. She did a commendable job at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open at Antalya, where she finished tied 17th. and was positioned well on the leaderboard in the Unicredit Ladies German Open before the weather intervened, cutting short the tournament. She will look to make a strong comeback once she returns from her injury.

    ?It is very frustrating to sit out due to injuries. I have been carrying these niggles for quite a while now and it was about time I took some time off to recuperate. I have been advised rest for some time for my toes to heal ?, said Sharmila Nicollet.
