  • Network18 felicitates young leaders across the nation

    NEW DELHI: Eight young revolutionary Indian leaders who symbolize optimism of the country which has the largest youth population in the world have been honoured as Young Indian Leaders in an initiative by the Network18 initiative presented by IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd.

    The young dynamic trailblazers, who set new paths, ventured into unexplored territories and finally emerged as path-breaking success stories of our nation. They were felicitated by Unique Identification Authority of India Chairman Nandan Nilekani at a function here.

    A panel discussion with Actor Gul Panag, MP and Steel icon Naveen Jindal, Olympic champion Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal marked the beginning of the event.

    The inspiring stories of these Young Indian Leaders will be telecast daily from October 25 to October 29 at 6:30 pm on CNN-IBN and 7:30 pm on IBN7. The grand finale of the award ceremony will be telecast on October 30 at 8:00 pm on CNN-IBN and IBN7 and on IBN-Lokmat at 6:00PM.

    The winners were: young politician Aga Ruhullah; environmentalist Akhil Gogoi; young sarpanch Chhavi Rajawat; Rupee symbol designer D Udaya Kumar; Indrani Medhi whose research has helped take the computer to a section of the society which cannot read or write; Irfan Alam who founded the Sammaan Foundation and came up with the idea of equipping rickshaws with music, magazines, newspapers, first-aid kits, refreshments and advertisements to help rickshaw-pullers; Krushnaa Patil who at twenty conquered Mt. Everest; and sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik of Orissa who is India?s world champion when it comes to making sculptures from sand. They are all aged between 20 and 34 years of age.

    This first of its kind editorial initiative of CNN-IBN, IBN7 and IBN-Lokmat is about celebrating the achievements of Young Indians who personify the spirit of youth.
    According to Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, CNN-IBN, IBN7 & IBN Lokmat, ?We salute these young leaders and hope that their inspiring stories bring a positive change that compel the youth of the nation to broaden their horizons and think differently.?

    Speaking on the occasion, Ashutosh, Managing Editor, IBN7, said, ?This initiative is our endeavour to acknowledge the exemplary work done by these young individuals through unconventional routes thereby earning shining success in their respective fields.?

  • Vivel Miss PTC Punjabi 2010 Grand Finale Night

    MUMBAI: In a star studded Grand Finale Event Held at PAP Ground in Jalandhar, PTC Punjabi announced and felicitated the winners of its Beauty and Talent Pageant, Vivel Miss PTC Punjabi 2010. Miss Gurmoncy Kaur from Sriganganagar , Rajasthan became Vivel Miss PTC Punjabi 2010, while Harbhavneet Kaur and Sahibdeep Kaur from Chandigarh and Patiala were crowned the First and Second Runner Up respectively. The event was telecast LIVE on PTC Punjabi.

    Harbhajan Maan , Archana Puran Singh, Parmeet Sethi , Ms. Rajiee M. Shinde and Sarabjeet Cheema judged the pageant.

    The event hosted performances by renowned Punjabi Artists Sarabjeet Cheema, Lehmber Hussainpuri, Saleem, Gippy Grewal and Shera Jasvir. Satinder Satti, the versatile anchor and singer anchored the event.

    Says Ms. Rajiee M. Shinde, ?This is the Third Year that PTC is conducting this pageant, which has, over the years become the most coveted Title for a Punjabi Woman. At each stage, the selection of contestants to go into the next round was closely monitored by the channel and qualified judges. During the four month long exercise , each contestant is groomed not just for the pageant, but at many levels, for the life ahead. Finally, the talent and skills of the selected girls is televised and showcased to the world by the medium of the channel.?

    After two successful seasons of the Beauty and Talent Pageant Miss PTC Punjabi in 2008 and 2009 respectively,the 2010 edition of the Pageant started in mid July this year and concluded on October 29 , 2010. Thousand of young enthusiastic girls thronged the Audition Venues spread across Twelve (12) cities in Punjab and Delhi. The Auditions of the Pageant this year were attended with even greater participation than the previous two years. The auditions were followed by Studio based episodes, Quarterfinals and Semi Finals.

    At par and ahead of the last two seasons of the pageant, the exercise was extensive and all pervasive, with promotions across Television, Print, Online and On- Ground.

    Vivel Miss PTC Punjabi is a Platform that unveils the talent in the Punjabi Women, while grooming them for the life ahead. It is a flagship and annual property from the leading Punjabi Entertainment Channel PTC Punjabi. It is a tribute to the pride in traditions and customs of Punjab, of which these women are harbingers.

  • Golmaal 3 team supports Nick Let?s Just Play

    MUMBAI: It was a day to remember as an overwhelming number of kids nationwide let go of their computer games, PSPs, homework and other routine INactivities. Nestle Milky Bar powers Nick Let?s Just Play co-powered by Surf Excel, a pioneering movement by Nickelodeon, received a tremendous response as kids stepped out of their coves to just indulge in an evening of fun and frolic, letting go of their stressful study routine! And big surprise, Bollywood superstars Kunal Khemu, Shreyas Talpade and Tushar Kapoor were present there to support the initiative!!

    Held at the Inorbit Mall, Malad, the Play Day saw hundreds of kids from all across the city participating in various playful activities that the orange brigade had organised for their beloved Nicksters. Not only did Nickelodeon go Poof!!! (blank) for 30 mins from 5 to 5.30 pm, encouraging millions of kids to come out play and get some mud on their clothes, but also took the initiative beyond the telly through the most innovative play events.

    The evening was filled with on-ground frenzy and, let?s just say that the kids present were not the only ones that had a blast; their parents too came out in the open, all taking a break from their over-packed schedules. Everyone was overjoyed to meet their favourite stars Kunal, Shreyas and Tushar! The madness put up by the Golmaal trio left everyone in splits. Kunal chose to join in some cricket masti, while Shreyas and Tushar decided to Squap away!! There was mind-boggling masti, magic and dhamaal as the kids whooshed through the obstacle course, their spidey-senses all ignited as they crawled through nets then climbed up ropes and swung around on tyres. Kids had a great time Skating, shooting the hoops while playing Basketball and playing Cricket. Not just that, a lot of them went crazy with their favourite new game, the ?Squap!? And if that wasn?t enough, the kids put up brilliant shows with their dance and b-boying. The grand finale of the evening witnessed tonnes of kids converging to play games and boogie with the legendary Nicktoon SpongeBob Squarepants.

    MUMBAI: In a special award ceremony, NDTV Profit announced its first Mutual fund awards to set benchmarks and distinguish the best mutual fund schemes in various categories and the best mutual fund houses.     The winners were identified through a robust, credible process and chosen finally by a jury of eminent leaders. Value Research, the knowledge partners used a risk adjusted Return Score on how a fund has performed historically, relative to the other funds in its category, for the risks it has taken.
