  • CNNGO Meets Diversity in Bangkok

    MUMBAI: It‘s a sprawling mix of old and new that‘s home to roughly 10 million people. This month CNNGo heads to Bangkok where we meet a diverse cast of individuals. The program airs* on Thursday , September 09 at 1400 hrs, Friday, September 10 at 0900 hrs, Saturday, September 11 at 1330, 2000 hrs, Sunday September 12, at 1200 and 2000 hrs.

    Model and environmentalist One of Thailand‘s most renowned architects, Duangrit Bunnag, shows viewers a hidden village nestled in the middle of the city, where locals live as they have for more than a hundred years. We step into the kitchen of Bo.lan and meet two young chefs who are using innovative ingredients to put a new spin on traditional Thai dishes.

    Forget the tourist markets. Instead we find out where the locals really shop. We step into the boutique of one of the country‘s talented young fashion designers - Pim Sukhahuta.     MUMBAI: If Zing saddened you and made you thoughtful with Pinjar on Wednesday, then get ready to laugh your hearts out on Thursday. ZING Big Screen brings the laugh riot Mumbai Xpress to your screens on 9th September, Thursday at 9.30 pm.

    Mumbai Xpress is a Tamil film directed by Singeetham Sreenivasa Rao, starring Kamal Haasan and Manisha Koirala. This film was produced by Kamal Haasan himself and music was composed by Ilayaraaja.

    After having spent his entire life in Bombay‘s Dharavi slums, Digamber feels it is time that he takes steps to improve his lifestyle. He, along with two other slum-dwellers, plot to kidnap the only son (Shravan) of a wealthy businessman, Kishore Mehta. Things do not go as planned as one of their partners gets hospitalized when he gets a reaction from locally brewed alcohol. Since this plot involves three males, Avinash, a deaf, but dare-devil motorcycle rider is recruited. Things do not go quite as planned, as only Digamber and Avinash are available to carry out the abduction. To make matters worse, they find out that the wrong boy (Daddu) has been abducted, who happens to be the illegitimate son of Assistant Commissioner of Police, S.P. Rao. So the heat is now on the Digamber and Avinash, who must somehow find a way to get out of this mess - alive and in one piece.

    MUMBAI: Zing is increasing its entertainment dose for its viewers via Zing Big Screens. Zing Big Screens will showcase Bollywood Movies at 9.30 pm from Monday to Friday.

    On 8th September, Wednesday, at 9.30 pm, Zing Big Screen is coming up with Pinjar ?a searing tale of love, lost innocence and honour, all set against the backdrop of the Partition.

    Urmila Matondkar plays Puro, daughter of the wealthy Mohanlal (Kulbushan Kharbanda) and his wife (Lillette Dubey). The family moves from Amritsar to a suburban village Chatwal, where Puro?s marriage is arranged with Ramchand (Sanjay Suri). But before Puro could dream of settling into a happily married life, misfortune falls upon her. An impulsive man named Rashid (Manoj Bajpai) wants to settle an old score with Puro?s family. So he kidnaps Puro and confines her to his house in the same village. A seed of love sprouts in sinner Rashid?s heart and he decides to marry Puro. But Puro, who has already been traumatized enough by Rashid, can?t even think of it as a possibility. In desperation, Puro manages to escape and return to her family. But her family refuses to accept her.

    Based on a Punjabi novel by Amrita Pritam, Pijar tells the tale of a number of characters caught in the turbulent times of riot and chaos during the partition of India in 1947.
