    NEW DELHI: World Press Photo has invited entries from professional photographers and photojournalists in ten categories to enter the 2009 World Press Photo contest.

    The deadline for the contest, in which the winning pictures are composed into a traveling exhibition that attracts more than two million visitors every year at more than 90 locations worldwide, is 15 January 2009. The web entry site to submit entries to the 2009 contest online will open on 1 December 2008.

    Images may be entered as single images or stories/portfolios in ten categories: Spot News, General News, People in the News, Sports Action, Sports Feature, Contemporary Issues, Daily Life, Portraits, Arts and Entertainment and Nature.

    Founded in the Netherlands in 1955, World Press Photo is an independent non-profit organization whose primary goal it is to create international support and attention for professional press photographers. Throughout the years, World Press Photo has developed into an independent platform for photojournalism and free exchange of information.

    In order to achieve its goal, World Press Photo organizes an annual press photography contest that has become one of the largest contests in the field of press photography.

    In the 2008 World Press Photo contest, 80536 images were submitted by 5019 photographers from 125 countries.

  • 'Let's Dance' Waltzes Gracefully into the Grand Finale

    MUMBAI: ‘Let‘s Dance‘, Amrita TV‘s delightful dancing competition for pairs climaxes into its thunderous conclusion this coming Saturday, the 25th of October.

    The Grand Finale of this sensational reality show, in which the three finalists couples will dance their hearts out for the coveted title, will be telecast live on 25th October, from 6.30pm onwards.

    A novel contest for dancing pairs in the age group of 18-30, ‘Let‘s Dance‘ made its debut in June this year..

    The various levels of audition were judged by an eminent panel consisting of Kala Master, the foremost dance composer in South Indian films, who has choreographed her way into the record books along with Prasanna Master, another top choreographer .

    Vastly different and new emerging styles from the incredibly popular Salsa of Latin America, the Duet, creative Hip-Hop, Medley, Property Pair to the robust Tango of Argentina showcased for the first time proved to be a great hit amongst the viewers.

    After 20 entertainment -packed rounds, this scintillating show is within bowing distance of its Finale.

    MUMBAI: While the economy goes through the correction phase, the Infrastructure sector is shining a ray of hope for the future. The sector that projects an optimistic outlook

    According to a CRISIL report investments in construction industry are set to double from Rs. 4,717 billion during the previous five year period (2002-03 to 2006-2007) to Rs. 9,217 billion in the current five year period (2007-08 to 2011-12) largely due to government‘s commitment and increased private sector participation(30 percent). Infrastructural investments which will be primarily driven by roads, irrigation and urban infrastructure will constitute 80 percent of total infrastructure investments.
