Man Jit Singh is Sony CEO

MUMBAI: Man Jit Singh is made chief executive officer of Multi Screen Media (formerly Sony Entertainment Television India) with immediate effect, ending all speculations that the entertainment major may elevate its COO NP Singh to the rank or even turn to an external professional to guide its growth.Man Jit, who is also chairman of MSM, had taken over as interim CEO in February after the exit of Kunal Dasgupta. He was given the mandate to lead the search for a new CEO.

Man Jit will be overseeing MSM‘s channel portfolio that includes Sony Entertainment Television (SET), Max, Sab and Pix.

The announcement was made today by Sony Pictures Television (SPT) president, networks, Andy Kaplan.

Said Kaplan, "As interim CEO, Singh has provided leadership and stability. After MSM‘s successes with Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket and its new programming initiatives, we feel it is appropriate to continue the consistency in management that Singh has provided. We are confident in his ability to grow the channel‘s businesses in India."

Avers Man Jit, "I‘m thrilled to be able to continue the work that I‘ve started. Our COO, NP Singh, is my partner in managing our businesses and together, we will work as hard as we can to elevate our channels to a position of leadership in India."

Prior to MSM, Man Jit was with Diogenes Capital, a private equity fund in Los Angeles, California, where he was a principal. He had also served as chairman and CEO of Compete, Inc, in Boston, Massachusetts, a predictive analytics service.

Man Jit was CEO of several companies specializing in management recruitment and temporary staffing, including Futurestep Inc, Korn/Ferry International‘s online subsidiary and Talent Tree Staffing Services, a subsidiary of the service conglomerate BET Plc. He also held senior positions at various management consulting firms including Sibson & Co, LLP in Los Angeles, The Cast Group AG in Zurich, Switzerland

and Los Angeles, and Cresap in Los Angeles. He began his career at Nestle India.

Man Jit is a graduate of the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and St. Stephen‘s College in Delhi, India.
