BENGALURU: Asianet News Network CEO and executive director Suresh Selvaraj has put in his papers after a short stint at the helm. Tomorrow (29 March) will be his last day at work. Selvaraj told Indiantelevision.com that he‘d decided to hit the ‘pause button‘ for now.

Selvaraj has been heading ANN‘s Kannada and Malayalam news channels Suvarna News 24x7 and Asianet News and a Kannada daily -Kannada Prabha. He joined ANN in February 2012 after working for 13 years at the Outlook Group, with about year years as its president.

Selvaraj said, "This is the shortest tenure in my entire career spanning 33 years in media. Regional news channels are no doubt exciting as the challenges are of a different kind. It was interesting to work on a channel like Suvarna News 24x7 and to have been part of many changes that were put in place- be it content mix, look and feel, setting up new studios and infrastructure, changing the profile of advertisers, topped with an increase of 27 percent in revenues."

He continued, "I take this opportunity to thank all my friends - advertisers and agencies who supported us with an impressive volume of prestigious brands and the team deserves the credit for doing so. Yes, there are miles to go but I felt that I deserved a break. I was longing for it after my 13-year tenure at the Outlook Group but had hastened in joining ANN. Having being born in media I am sure to last only in media. As the parlance goes, I will be back shortly after a leisure break."
