Fight surfaces for top position in Hindi GECs
MUMBAI: A fight for the top spot in the Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) hierarchy is finally surfacing.
MUMBAI: Star Plus, the leading Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC), is launching its new fiction property on 18 June.
Titled ?Pyar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara?, the show is produced by Rajshri Productions.
The show will air every Monday - Friday at 10 pm. The channel is taking it?s another fiction show Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein off-air this week.
Pyar Ka? will compete with Colors? Uttaran, which is leading the slot. Sony Entertainment Television airs Kya Hua Tera Vaada at this slot, while Zee TV telecasts Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuyien.
Pyar Ka? addresses what really impacts the way the younger generation looks at and deals with relationships in their adult lives, the channel said. The story explores how the family environment and the upbringing play a major role in deciding how the child will cope with relationships in the future - whether he will have faith in love and relationships.
Star India business head - Hindi channels Nitin Vaidya said, "Star Plus has always made an effort to produce content that is fresh and different, touching upon different subjects and topics. With Pyar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara too, it is a fresh look at family life in context to the youth. The focus is now on how mind-sets towards relationships are altered unknowingly due to a tense family environment."
Pyar Ka?, believes in "kal ki parvarish pe tike aaj ke rishtey" and is in tune with the channel?s philosophy ?Rishta Wahi Soch Nayi?, the channel said.
Mumbai: Sony Entertainment Television (Set) is shifting its 8 pm show Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, produced by Rajan Shahi?s Director?s Kut, to 11 pm slot.
Instead, the channel will launch a new fiction property, Byaah Hamari Bahoo Ka, from 28 May.
Produced by Hats Off Productions, Byaah Hamari? will air every Monday to Friday at 8 pm.
To promote the show, Set is building a curiosity around it. The show is about a Gujarati Vaishnav family where everything is fine. What comes as a surprise then is: why is the Vaishnav family all set to get their daughter-in-law Rajni, remarried.

Byaah Hamari Bahoo Ka will be competing with slot leaders- Color?s Balika Vadhu, and Star Plus? Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. Zee TV, at 8 pm airs Hitler Didi.
Set head of fiction Virendra Shahaney said, "To start with I was super excited with the title Byaah Hamari Bahoo Ka, it was so intriguing. The title coupled with the powerful narration of the story, made the show simply irresistible. This unique love story told by the great team of JD Majethia and Aatish Kapadia, I am sure, will connect with the viewers and keep them glued to the show."
Byaah hamari? is conceived by Aatish Kapadia who also had penned Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka, which was the first ever soap to complete 1000 episodes.
"This is a very novel love story involving the entire Vaishnav family. It has fresh content, characters and superlative performances! It?s a show of "today" which will also attract the youth along with the family audiences," Hats Off Productions CMD JD Majethia added.
MUMBAI: Big Magic, variety entertainment channel for the core Hindi heartland from the Reliance Broadcast Network (RBNL) stable, is bringing back ?Khulja Sim Sim? (KJSS).
The show is being produced by Big Productions, the television content production division of RBNL.
The game show is an Indian adaptation of the International format ?Let?s Make A Deal?. The channel has acquired the rights for the format from Fremantle.
The show was earlier aired on Star Plus in July 2001. It went on air for over two years and 105 episodes. The first season of the show was hosted by actor Aman Verma while the second season was hosted by Hussain Kuwajerwala that launched in 2004.
The channel has done a ?call for entry? promotion across multiple media, in the Hindi Heartland to invite consumers to participate and get a chance to be on the show. The entire show will be shot in UP and MP with local audiences from across the region participating.
Khullja Sim Sim will be promoted through a multi-media campaign, featuring TV, Radio, OOH, Print, Digital, Cable, Cinema across the Hindi Heartland.
It will be clubbed with 92.7 Big FM to offer an integrated media offering to marketers.
In the game show, the host randomly picks up participants from the studio audience. The participant has to trade between various options and gets the chance to win a jackpot. The participants usually have to weigh the possibility of an offer being made for a valuable prize, or a potential undesirable item, or a ?tai tai? fish.
