MUMBAI: With the impending IIFA awards to be held there in the last week of June, Canada is becoming more and more Bollywood-friendly.

Mississauga-based Picture House has organised ‘The Art of Bollywood’, an exhibition of hand painted billboards and posters of Indian cinema from 12 May to 10 July.

Original billboards and vintage posters from 1940s to 2010 will be displayed in the exhibition. The exhibition will also include a multi-media installation by Canadian artist Mike Hansen, who explores cross-cultural references between Bollywood and Hollywood films.

Curated by Ali Adil Khan with Asma Arshad Mahmood, this exhibition is said to be a tribute to the unique art practice that has evolved over the last 85 years in India.

This exhibition coincides with the Year of India celebrations in Canada and the International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) in Toronto from 23 to 25 June.
