Chalo Dilli crawls in a crowded release week

MUMBAI: As many as six Hindi releases last Friday (besides three English) and what causes this suicidal rush is inexplicable considering even solo releases fail to muster a decent opening response. The films released were ‘Shor In The City’, ‘Chalo Dilli’, ‘I Am’, ‘Naughty @ 40’, ‘Men Will Be Men’ and ‘Queens! Destiny Of Dance’ and the opening response in all cases was below par.

‘Chalo Dilli’ a clean entertainer, proved to be the best watch of the weekend and emerged as the favourite among the lot. In its first weekend, the film is reported to have collected approximately Rs 47.5 million. It is also being appreciated by the people.

Despite a huge hype, youth appeal and good music, ‘Shor In The City’ does not have much to show for its box office takings, having collected just Rs 36 million for the opening weekend.

Other four films are so poor, they have nothing much to show for box office figures.

’Dum Maaro Dum’ followed its weak opening with average collections for its first week run, netting Rs 218 million.

’Thank You’ added another Rs 31 million in its 3rd week to take its total to Rs 448 million.

’Faltu’ collected Rs 8 million in its 4th week, taking its tally to Rs 234.5 million.
