Ent. tax has Mukta roll back simultaneous release of two films

MUMBAI: Mukta Searchlight has decided to roll back its earlier plan of releasing Love Express and Cycle Kick simultaneously on 10 June because of entertainment tax complications.

The production house had earlier announced that cine goers could buy one ticket and watch both the films within the time span of a week.

Now, the company has come up with its latest offers that would allow cine goers to watch both the upcoming releases at discounted prices

"We had two options-the first was to screen both the films on one ticket and the second was to reduce the price of the tickets of the film. My exhibitors and I preferred the former, but then we discovered that we would have to pay entertainment tax on the second film even if we decided to screen it for free.

The legal process of dealing with it was time-consuming, so we thought of going ahead with the latter option. Now we will offer a discount of 50 per cent and 25 per cent on the tickets of the films," Subhash Ghai said.

Under the revised plan, Love Express will release on 10 June and Cycle Kick will release on 17 June.
