MUMBAI: Marathi film Gabhricha Paus has been selected to screen in Cannes Cinéphiles. It will compete between eight to ten other films that are focused on themes aimed at the younger generation.
Produced by Prashant Pethe and directed by Satish Manwar, the film portrays the story of a farmer and his family in the farmer-suicide prone region of Maharashtra.
The film had its World Premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2009 and was later screened in several international festivals like Warsaw International Film Festival, Poland, Vancouver International Film festival, Canada and Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.
The 64th edition of Festival de Cannes will run from 11 to 22 May.
