HC restricts BR Films in financial recovery case

MUMBAI: Finding no positive outcome of retrieving a big sum given to BR Films, film financier Devidas Jotumal Thawani resorted to legal action and submitted a petition against the production house in the Bombay High Court.

Confirming the same, Thawani confided, "Yes, it is true that B R Films has to repay a big sum to me and my family. And the High Court has passed an interim order. I wouldn‘t like to elaborate more on this as the matter is sub judice.”

Under the interim order, the owners of the production house, Ravi Chopra, his wife Renu and sons Kapil and Abhay, have been restricted from creating any third party rights for the immovable, movable and intellectual properties without its permission.

Listed among the immovable properties of BR Films are its office premises at Santacruz, Juhu and Khar Danda. Among the immovable properties are five cars and 36 films produced by the production house form the company’s intellectual properties.
