Karan Johar bags remaking rights of Malayalam film

MUMBAI: Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has reportedly bagged the remake rights of the Malayalam film, Adaminte Makan Abu.

Adaminte Makan Abu chronicles the difficulties that old poor couples of Malabar encounter to go for a Haj pilgrimage. It shows humanist values freeing matters of faith from the constrictions of narrow parochialism.

The film, directed by debutante Salim Ahammed, recently bagged four National Awards and many state awards while its lead actor Salim Kumar was adjudged the best actor at both the National and State levels for his outstanding performance in the film.

Adaminte Makan Abu will hit the screens on 17 June.

While Shah Rukh Khan is being tipped to essay the main role, the title of the Hindi version as well as the cast and crew are being worked out.
