Law enforcing officials raid pirates in Dallas

MUMBAI:Law enforcement officials in Dallas and its surrounding areas raided multiple local businesses involved in piracy of copyrighted material. UTV Motion Pictures along with other distributors collaborated with Government agencies and local authorities to help curb this growing illegal activity.

According to a police report, over 3200 pirated DVDs were recovered from two locations. More than 48 DVD burners and other equipment used to make copies of Hindi motion pictures were also confiscated. Law enforcement agencies have been receiving reports and investigating a network in and around the area of Dallas.

Felony charges were filed against the store owner of these establishments. The charges arise out of the unauthorised possession, production and sale of pirated copyrighted material. The arrested individuals are, however, reported to be co-operating with police in leading them to other sources and members of this illegal network.

Said UTV (USA) Motion Pictures senior VP Lokesh Dhar, ““We are extremely serious about fighting theft of UTV copyrighted content. This raid is one of many that we are planning to have in North America.”

Authorities in other Texas cities plan to continue similar raids without break, until the market is free of this criminal activity. Police investigation indicates that it is a larger problem than initially estimated and they are committed to take more elaborate steps in order to completely eradicate the problem.
