London Indian Film Fest to open on 30 June

MUMBAI: After its successful debut last year, the London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) is all set to return for a second year.

To be held from 30 June to 12 July, the festival will screen a range of alternative Indian cinema as well as regular Bollywood films. The festival will screen films of directors including Anurag Kashyap, Abhinay Deo and Rituparno Ghosh.

Aamir Khan’s Delhi Belly will open the festival.

Says festival director Cary Rajinder Sawhney, "In addition to showing great movies, we also aim to help get these films talked about and screened more broadly in cinemas in the UK, in the same way that Iranian cinema has been shown. London of course has a huge Asian audience for these movies, but many non-Asian Brits would also like to find out more about the 1.2 billion-strong India of today and cinema is a great way to do this."

After doing the rounds of festivals in Venice and Toronto, Anurag Kashyap‘s That Girl in Yellow Boots will also be screened at the festival.

Rituparno Ghosh’s film Autograph will close the festival on 12 July.
