Single-window clearance policy for filmmakers in Gujarat on anvil

MUMBAI: Giving a boost to film producers interested in shooting their films in the state, the Gujarat Government has given a go-ahead to a single-window clearance policy.

Heeding to the suggestions in the matter, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi, has agreed to issue a government order (GR) in this regard immediately.

The chief minister was speaking to a delegation of film personalities led by President of Indian Motion Pictures Producer Association (IMPPA) and Film Federation of India (FFI) T.P. Aggrawal on the sidelines of the Gandhinagar International Film Festival in Gujarat that concluded on 24 April.

Aggarwal availed the opportunity and prevailed upon the CM to chalk out a plan for the development of film industry in Gujarat. He explained to the CM the various problems faced by the film industry in general and Gujarati films in particular.

Later he submitted to the CM IMPPA‘s seven suggestions that included constructing of a Film City, give incentives by way of subsidy, abolition of entertainment tax, have training institutes, awards, seminars and workshops, have concessional rates in hotels and guest houses for film crew, compulsory screening of Gujarati films and single window clearance system. The Chief Minister, while assuring to go through all the suggestions in details, said that he will soon formulate a government policy.

Other producer-members of IMPPA who also met the chief minister were K.C. Bokadia, Vinay Kumar Sinha, Surendra Kumar Bohra and Rashid Kamal Khan.
