MUMBAI: Tata group today announced their association with "BSA Hercules India Cyclothon" & "Being Human Mumbai Cyclothon - Tour De Mumbai", India‘s first ever international cycling event to be held at Bandra Reclamation on Sunday, 21st February, 2010.

The key attraction of this association will be the Tata Kid‘s Ride, India‘s biggest organized bike ride, for youngsters between the ages of 8 and 13. This ride will span a distance of 2 Kms and aims at motivating the city‘s Gen-Next to carry forth the important message of cycling for fitness and for the environment. More than 150 kids have already registered to participate in this exciting event, with more participation expected.

The other categories that the Cyclothon will be sporting are the Amateur Ride of 24 Kms, the Corporate/Group Ride of 24 Kms, the Green Ride of 12 Kms, the International race of 100 km and Domestic race of 50 Km.

Mr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Executive Director - Tata Sons said, "The Tata Group has a long standing belief in improving the quality of life of the communities we serve. We believe that one part of improving the quality of life includes empowering communities to make informed decisions on their health and environment. Our association with the Mumbai Cyclothon is an effective and active platform that raises awareness on the importance of a clean environment and good health for a better tomorrow."

The event is being organized by Sport18, the sports marketing division of the Network18 group and ID Sports - a sports management company.
