Yash Chopra helps out nephew Ravi; bargains for rights of Waqt

MUMBAI: Recently film financer Devidas Jotumal Thawani had taken the owners of B R Films to court after which Ravi Chopra, his wife Renu and son Kapil were restricted from creating third party rights for the immovable and movable properties without the permission of the court.

Yash Chopra has decided to help them out financially. In return, he has sought the rights of the 1965 classic Waqt that he had directed.

Waqt, starring Balraj Sahni, Raaj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor and Sunil Dutt, was a milestone in the career of both Yash Chopra and his elder brother, the late B R Chopra.

It is being said that that the younger Chopra wanted to remake the iconic film as a homage to his deceased brother but the project never took off due to the not-too-good relationship between the uncle and his nephew.
