Priyadarshan returns to direct Malayalam film after seven years

MUMBAI: Seven years after he made Vettam in 2004, Priyadarshan is directing a Malayalam film and that too with his favourite Malayalam superstar Mohanlal.

The film, titled Arabiyum, Ottakavum, P. Madhavan Nairum, is said to be a satirical comedy. It is set in Abu Dhabi.

"Arabiyum, Ottakavum, P. Madhavan Nairum has tremendous title value, as people will surely be curious to know what it is all about. The film is a satirical comedy, set in Abu Dhabi. I can‘t reveal anything more at this point," says the director.

Interestingly, character artiste Shakti Kapoor has been signed to play an important role in the film; he will play the role of an Arab. "It was my long cherished dream to do a Malayalam film. Now, doing Priyanji’s film with Mohanlal makes me even happier," Kapoor said.

The film, which has Mohanlal playing the role P. Madhavan Nair, also has Mukesh, Bhavana and Lakshmi Rai with Vidya Balan as the female lead.

The film, which started rolling in Abu Dhabi from 1 March, is likely to hit the screens in July.
