MUMBAI: Tuhin Mishra’s Baseline Ventures has tossed another ball up in the air. The sports agency has signed up with the Central Asian Volleyball Association (Cava), the governing body for volleyball in central Asia, in a strategic partnership to revolutionise  and popularise volleyball in the region.

Cava is the supporting Zonal Association of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and represents the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the AVC in central Asia and south Asia to promote and develop indoor, beach, grass and snow volleyball in the region. It is also affiliated to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The idea of the partnership is to build an eminent annual property – the Cava  Nations Cup which will feature participation from six to eight teams  across the Cava region  and offer FIVB ranking points, marking a significant milestone for volleyball in the area.

The Cava  Nations Cup is poised to become a flagship event, bringing together top teams from central Asia to compete at the highest level.

Cava president Mohamed Latheef said: “Baseline Ventures has been the brains behind the the very popular Prime Volleyball League in India. We are excited to work on the Cava Nations Cup with Baseline as we witnessed India’s stand-out performance during the last Asian Games which was a direct result of the success of Prime Volleyball League. Coming together with Baseline allows us to bring our vision to life, creating more opportunities for players and elevating the region’s profile on the global volleyball stage.”

Baseline Ventures co-founder & MD Tuhin Mishra: “The Cava Nations Cup promises to be a game-changer for volleyball in central Asia. This tournament will not only showcase the region’s talent but also provide players with a platform to compete for FIVB ranking points.”

Surely, that should prove to be a smashing incentive for the game and the players.
