UTV accorded 1st day presentation privilege in management schools

MUMBAI: Looks as if media and entertainment sector is getting its due as an attractive career option. Management institutions have started inviting Indian media companies to their campuses on the first day in a bid to ensure that these companies can get access to the best management post-graduates.
UTV has picked up around four fresh MBA recruits from some of the premier institutions in the country. Among the group joining from 2 June 2003, one is from Jamnalal Bajaj (JBIMS); two from Sydenham Management School and one from Infinity Business School, Delhi.
UTV group chairman Ronnie Screwvala says: "This year, UTV went out on campus recruitment to some of the top management schools in India. There is obviously a high and growing level of interest amongst graduating students to look at media as a career option. It was evident from the more than 200 students turnout on each of the campuses and UTV being accorded first day presentation privilege."
UTV senior executive - HR Firoza Tarapore reiterated UTV's commitment for inducting fresh and professional blood into the organization as well as making this an ongoing and an annual feature for UTV.
"Media has to be concept sold to the students for them to understand the career option in this new space and we are happy to have four young women join us in this first year of our visit to the various campuses," says Tarapore.
