Mumbai: Nippon TV, Japan’s leading multiplatform entertainment powerhouse announced today that Mongol’s Green Show Production has finalised production of the scripted Mongolian-language format of Nippon TV’s award-winning drama series Mother (60 min. eps). Ээж (Mother in Mongolian) will stream first on Mongolia’s VOO IPTV platform from January 11th and air on Mongolia’s Edutainment TV (Edu TV) starting January 20th. In addition to the adaptation in Mongolia, Mother has been adapted in Turkey, South Korea, Ukraine, Thailand, China, France, and Spain, with upcoming production in Arabic, making it Asia’s most exported and locally adapted scripted format, according to research by K7 Media.  The announcement was made today by Sayako Aoki, Head of Scripted Formats, Global Business, Nippon TV.

We cannot wait for the local audience in Mongolia to encounter this remarkable series, produced by Green Show Production, who had a strong aspiration from the very beginning stages to create a series that has important social relevance,” commented Aoki.

Ээж tells the story of a solace substitute teacher who realizes that one of her pupils is a victim of child abuse. Acting upon instinct, she kidnaps the student to save her from the abusive biological mother and her volatile boyfriend and flees to her own adoptive mother's place- all while trying to escape from the police.
