This special show reveals how Google has climbed to its pre-eminent position, its strategy for increasing its already huge footprint, and how the company plans to address the biggest issue in today‘s digital age: privacy.

The one-hour documentary delivers a comprehensive look at Google‘s crown jewel-- its Internet search engine- the most visited web site in the world. In fact, despite formidable competition, nearly two-thirds of Internet searches worldwide are done on Google.

Google Vice President Marissa Mayer speaks on the simple, uncluttered and clean "look" that has made Google a stunning economic success as well as a cultural phenomenon. Further, the show takes viewers inside the "Googleplex," the company headquarters famous for its amazing perks and casual, fun atmosphere and a place where some of the brightest minds in the world actually want to work. It‘s the setting for a corporate culture, created by founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, that‘s inspired ideas that have transformed the way we interact with information, the Internet and each other. Have you ever wondered how Google makes its money? It‘s "AdWords," Google‘s revolutionary advertising program, which generated more than 95% of the company‘s total four billion dollar profit in 2008.

The show profiles a 93-year-old cowboy who recently took his company -- the Paul Bond Boot Company- into the 21st century and began advertising on Google. • Sri Lankan safe lamp project wins prestigious World Challenge 09 competition

Submitted by ITV Production on Dec 10, 2009

MUMBAI: BBC World News presented the final programme of the World Challenge 09 series, announcing the Safe Bottle Lamp Project as the winner. The Sri Lankan initiative produces inexpensive lamps from recycled glass as a solution to burn risks in developing countries.

Burns caused by makeshift kerosene lamps are a common problem in parts of Sri Lanka, where a fifth of the population has no access to electricity. These accidents often cause severe pain, scarring and sometimes even death. To prevent these injuries a Sri Lankan surgeon, Dr Wijaya Godakumbura, has designed a simple lamp using recycled glass, which can be easily mass produced at a low cost.

Now in its fifth year, World Challenge remains extremely popular, with more than 127,000 people around the world voting online for their favourite finalist. The final programme airs on BBC World News this weekend, showcasing the presentation ceremony hosted by the BBC?s award-winning presenter Zeinab Badawi. The Safe Bottle Lamp Project will receive a US$20,000 prize grant from Shell. Details will also appear in Newsweek magazine.

Two runner-up projects will each be awarded US$10,000 by Shell. The first runner-up is Danamon Go Green, an Indonesian initiative dedicated to converting traditional market waste into organic compost to be distributed amongst local farmers. Second runner-up is BTTR Ventures, an American project that aims to turn one of the largest waste streams in America into a highly-demanded, nutritious and valuable food product for local consumers.

Paul Gibbs, Head of Programmes, BBC World News says: ?Over the last five years, the unique projects featured in World Challenge have continued to amaze and inspire BBC World News viewers. The competition?s ongoing success and popularity illustrates an unwavering interest globally in the field of sustainable development.?

Rhona Murphy, Publisher and Managing Director, Newsweek International says: ?World Challenge continues to cast a wide net for sustainable ideas that benefit people - and the planet. Newsweek is proud, with partners Shell and BBC World News, to celebrate the fifth anniversary of this global call to action.?

Bjorn Edlund, Executive Vice President, Communications, Shell says, "Organisations and businesses of all sizes, including Shell, are increasingly looking for technologies and ways of doing business that have a more positive impact on the environment. It‘s humbling to see so many small projects achieving this against such challenging circumstances and at Shell, we are pleased to honour and support all those involved in World Challenge, and particularly the winning project, for their outstanding achievements."

World Challenge is a global competition rewarding grass roots projects that give something back to their communities. It is run by BBC World News, the BBC?s international news channel, and Newsweek, the weekly global current affairs magazine, in association with Shell. To mark the fifth anniversary, this year?s series included a special celebratory programme, World Challenge Five Years On, looking back at previous winners and how the projects have developed since.

  • Rocket Singh or Twilight?Omar tells you which movie will dazzle audiences this week!

Submitted by ITV Production on Dec 10, 2009

MUMBAI: This week, Omar Qureshi helps his audience decide which of the two most awaited movies would be a worthy watch over the weekend. The famous movie critic shares his take on the two most awaited movies of the season? the sequel to the Twilight Saga...New Moon and the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rocket Singh ? Salesman of the Year.

To begin with, Omar reviews Rocket Singh ? Salesman of the Year, which features the current heartthrob of the country Ranbir Kapoor and the pretty debutant Shazahn Padamsee. With all the recent hits given by Ranbir Kapoor, this movie too holds high expectations from the audience. Rocket Singh - Salesman Of The Year is about a salesman named Harpreet Singh Bedi (Ranbir Kapoor) who has just graduated, and his marks are, well, let‘s say a little embarrassing. But marks never stopped him from dreaming of an exciting and adventurous career, and they never will. He takes a deep, positive breath and dives into the world of sales, rumoured to be an ultra cool career for all smart people blocked from entering medical, engineering or business schools by brainless entrance exams.

It‘s everything he dreamt of, with its smooth dressing, smoother talking men and women who can sell ice to an Eskimo, dreams to an insomniac, and a lifetime mobile connection to a dying man. But soon, his idea of success begins clashing with the strange ways of these ‘professionals‘ and ‘bosses‘ he looked up to. The story is about how he slowly becomes a conman and how he starts operating a parallel company within the same company in which he is working without the knowledge of others.

Next is the much awaited sequel to the Twilight, New Moon. The series that made everyone fall in love with vampires. The story continues with Edward leaving Bella, her whole world is turning upside down. With Bella‘s heart broken, she turns to Jacob (Jake) her best friend to fill the void that was left by Edward. As Bella spends more time with Jake, she learns that there are more than vampires in the town of Forks.

So tune in to ?The ZoOm Review Show? find out which movie definitely is worth a watch this weekend on Friday, December 11, 2009, 7:30pm only on ZoOm.
