MUMBAI: Lionsgate, the media entertainment company, has announced that executive VP and general sales manager David Spitz has agreed to a new long-term contract with the company.
The announcement was made by Lionsgate president Motion Picture Group, and co-chief operating officer Joe Drake.
Spitz, a 13-year veteran of Lionsgate, will report to Drake. He was promoted to his incumbent position in 2007.
Spitz began his career as a film buyer for Mann Theaters. He served two years as a regional branch manager for MGM Distribution.
Spitz joined Lionsgate predecessor Artisan Entertainment in 1997, and held a series of progressively responsible executive positions at Artisan and Lionsgate, including Senior Vice President of Domestic Distribution.
Says Drake, "As we continue to expand our feature film slate, David‘s expertise and depth of understanding will give us a competitive advantage when it comes to maximizing the potential of every one of our titles. We are proud and happy to have him as a member of the Lionsgate family."
During his tenure Spitz has made contributions to the successful distribution of Hollywood movies such as the Saw franchise, Tyler Perry franchise, My Bloody Valentine 3d, The Haunting In Connecticut, Forbidden Kingdom among others.
